Shooting with hunting shotguns at live birds or artificial targets has existed since the 17th century, in order to train hunters and to organise competitive sporting events. The first rules governing these activities were laid down in the 19th century. They were used as the basis for the transforming of these games of skill into a sporting activity, which since the second half of the 20th century, has itself becomes a prestigious sport.
Unlike trap and skeet, which are games of repeatable target presentations, sporting clays simulates the unpredictability of live-quarry shooting, offering a great variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations, distances, and target sizes. Sporting is a safe, exciting and at the same time not easy sport. Hitting the target requires skill, time and eye coordination, but there isn’t a better feeling than when you pull the trigger and see your target fly into thousands of pieces. In addition to the fact that sporting is an extremely interesting sport, it has many benefits for your health, both physical and mental. FITASC (Fédération Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse) is involved in the development of this discipline in the world.
In Ukraine, as a separate sport, sporting did not appear immediately. Initially, separate training grounds were built on the shooting ranges7 Also, the first closed club competitions were held, as well as tournaments for hunters. In 2007, there was the first attempt to create a national Federation of bench shooting and sports. 7 national level competitions were held, but sporting was not recognized by the state. Having come a long way, in 2009 sporting was officially registered in Ukraine. This is how the Ukrainian Sporting Federation appeared, which at the beginning had about 50 participants. In 2010, Ukrainian national team took part in international competitions for the first time. The Championship was attended by 7 athletes.
